Project TroubadorBy

The Random House Dictionary defines a Troubador as a poem writer who writes songs and poems chiefly on themes of courtly love. Project Troubador uses poems and songs to help us understand different cultures. So if you feel like hearing some great music, grab a blanket and some food and come on down to the Town Grove. Project Troubador is a group that travels all over the world, but helps us celebrate summer and cultural arts here in Salisbury, every year, on the last Saturday in June. At least 1,000 people attend every year for an evening of music, dancing, and entertainment. If you come to Project Troubador and you are an adult you have to pay $10.00 dollars and if you are a child under 12, you have to pay $5.00 dollars. You can also become a member and help support the goal of spreading peace around the world. For more information about membership or Project Troubador in general, you may contact Eliot Osborn and Louise Lindenmeyr at their phone number at 435-0561. When I interviewed Mr. Osborn, he brought African hats and musical instruments. I learned that African music is something I like. Now that I know I like African music, I would like to meet more people that are African. Project Troubador has been around for twenty-four years. Mr. Osborn and his group hope that by singing and playing music from around the world that we can all learn to understand each other and get along. ![]()
