The Scoville Memorial Library

Have you read all the books in your room? If so, come on down to the Scoville Memorial Library. In the early 1890s, Jonathan Scoville gave $12,000 for a new library building. That is why our library is called the Scoville Library. The library has more things than just books. It also has audiotapes and videos. However, books are what it has the most. In fact, the library has 28,000 books! There are so many different books for so many different people.

There are different jobs to keep the library running smoothly. There is a director, people that work at the circulation desk to check out books, someone to keep track of overdue books, a children's librarian, and someone to keep track of books on loan from other libraries.

Sometimes the library has special programs like story time, and Mother Goose. If they want to advertise something special, they can use posters around town, flyers or the mail.

If you come to the library, you must have a library card from your own town. You can be of any age to have a library card. The library is on Main Street in Salisbury.
