OWL's
Kitchen

Did you know that
we have OWL's Kitchen in our town? OWL's Kitchen is a free food pantry,
which has been around since 1990. The goal of OWL's Kitchen is to give
food to anybody in need. It is called OWLS' Kitchen because it is run
by the Older Woman's League and their acronym is OWL. They decided to
call it kitchen rather than pantry because they liked the way it sounded.
OWL's Kitchen gives healthy food for people to take home and prepare in
their own kitchen. Free healthy food is given to over 60 families who
come, with no intrusive questions asked. Their motto is "food with dignity".
Volunteers do all the work. Owl's Kitchen is funded by contributions from
people in the community.
The people who come to OWL's Kitchen are from Connecticut, New York, and
sometimes Massachusetts. Everybody that comes is somehow in need. They
do not have to pay to get food. People come to OWL's Kitchen to pick up
food every Saturday morning from 9:00 am to 11:00 am and every other Friday
evening from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. OWL's Kitchen is located on Sharon Road
in Lakeville, in a small house on the grounds of Saint Mary's Church.
