Community Ties

by 3rd Grade Students

These articles were written by the 3rd grade language arts enrichment class at Salisbury Central School. It grew from their study of 'community ties'-those invisible bonds that are woven throughout everything we do, and which hold us all together.

Each student selected an agency or organization that is a part of our community. They wrote letters requesting meetings, developed questions to help them gather information and conducted on-site, face-to-face interviews with an adult. Finally, they wrote the information they gathered into an article about their agency or organization. Their 'articles' can be read using the links below.

The most valuable lesson learned from their experience is that we have many dedicated people working hard to make Salisbury the very special place that it is. Without these people, we would not have a community. Read on!
