Construction of the Lakeville Post Office began in 1939 and it was finished in 1941. The artist who painted the murals inside the post office was named George R. Cox. President Roosevelt set up a job program for the unemployed. Sometimes it was called a "Make Work Program." It made jobs for artists and that is how we got the mural in the Lakeville Post Office.
