Meeting Minutes
April 14, 2008

Principal’s Report:  Mr. Butwill spoke about the CMT testing and how smoothly he felt everything went. They are starting the process of planning the classes for next year. Kindergarten registration went smoothly.

Treasurer’s Report: Becky Lachaine passed out our updated budget for the year and at the time of the meeting we still had about $3000.00 left to spend in the checkbook.

Old Business:
Cookbook Update: Tracy was not here to update us on her plans but we had a discussion on what to do with the funds raised. Mr. Butwill talked about the importance of partnering with the cafeteria and the support of the school lunch program.  A notice will go home regarding sending in recipes for the proposed cookbook soon.

Teacher Appreciation Luncheon: Weezie Fallon spoke about how the plans for the event on May 2nd are going. Volunteers are starting to contact her and she will begin making calls where she needs to fill in. She showed us a copy of the elegant invitation that she sent to the faculty.

New Business:
Housatonic Valley Regional Outreach Speaker – Dr. Gene Chin: Dr. Chin came to speak to us about a new committee that has been formed for HVRHS. It consists of parents and teachers from all the towns in Region One. The committee has two main goals, the first to solicit a sense from the people of Region One towns what exactly we would like to see ongoing at the high school. There will be an online form regarding this and also a public open forum in each town for discussion. The second goal is to educate parents on what the high school experience is actually like now, what has changed over the years. The outcome of this committee will basically determine where funds will go at the high school in the future. (The survey discussed above will eventually be located online through the HVRHS link.)

Planning PTO for Next School Year: Jen Segalla briefly mentioned that we will need to discuss officer elections and plans for next school year at our next meeting.
